St George’s, University of London aimed to produce an equality/diversity campaign to promote the institution's high-level commitment to championing equality and inclusion and to building and maintaining a supportive environment which values the diversity of students, staff and the wider community.

As part of their focus on Equality Challenge Unit's Athena SWAN Charter, the Thrive Campaign began by producing a series of podcasts which highlight some of the insightful stories of their people. Professor Deborah Bowman, Deputy Principal (Institutional Affairs), interviewed St George’s people about a variety of topics including work/life balance, career progression and overcoming mistakes, and the importance of being respected and valued for who you are at work.

A website, photography, design work, podcasts, social media coverage, and an online news article were created for the launch event in September 2017.

In May 2018, they were awarded the Athena SWAN institutional ‘Silver’ Award from Advance HE in recognition of its commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion for the whole University community. Previously they were at the Bronze level, so this a much-celebrated improvement. (See the graphics for Athena SWAN Silver Award Project)
